Always pass the armrest test!

Daily life itself is always "go, go, go". We spend so much time in our cars and often need reinforcements! Dinner time, light primping and rebounds from wardobe malfunctions all happen on four wheels. It only gets more intense as the holiday season rolls in. Being prepared for as much as you can is the goal and personally has helped take the stress and added anxiety during transistions. Organizing the car and packing it with constant needs is a forever pro tip!

Bag Lady

Three bags should always be in your vehicle:

  • First aid bag/kit

  • Snacks/water bag

  • Hygiene/grooming bag

First Aid Bag/kit

This bag should include baindaid, ointments, pain relievers, allergy medication, guaze, alcohol wipes, and anything else you find yourself using to treat wounds. Make sure this is a bag that can be easily identified.

Snack bag

This has been one I've worked to perfect as everything isn't ideal for a travel snack bag. First things first... WATER!!! You never know when you will need fresh water, so its often great to carry even if you choose to forego storing snacks. The snacks that withstand the elements and temperature fluctuations best are grains, hands down. Next in line are dried items. Crackers, fruit chips/potato chips, granola bars, trail mix, seaweed, protein bars, jerky packs, etc are all great options to store. They willl defintely hold everyone over until the next meal time.

Grooming Bag

This bag is VITAL and belongs in arms reach at all times!Just go ahead and throw it in the armrest, lol.

Once you find a bag that will fit the space, begin filling it with gum, deodorant, lotion, brush and comb (also small sizes of light hair products such as edge control), lip balm, glasses wipes, flossers and anything else that helps you achieve a last minute "polished". I also keep a small sewing kit, body wipes, safety pins, mini brushes/light makeup, scissors, hair ties/pins, glasses repair (and an extra pair), super glue, lysol spray and hand sanitizer.

Beyond bags, it's also important to have an emergency kit that stays in the car at ALL times. This kit should include jumper cables, disinfectant wipes, paper towels, trash bags, flashlight, small tool kit, extra nuts and bolts, reusables bag/tote and anything model-specific to your vehicle.

I keep sneakers, a quad chair, car wipes and a handheld vacuum with me also!

Note: If you have a fur baby, it's great to pack treats, pop up bowls, an extra leash, poop bags and a ball/toy.

Packing your car with intentionality creates a level of control within your hectic travel schedule; yielding peace of mind and reduced stress. Even beyond yourself, you may just be the saving grace for someone else. Happy packing! #simplifyandorganize
